Season 4, End of Season Championship : Even Rob

With an early 7:57 AM tee time, 1.5 hours from home – Rob, with Dad on the bag, rocked the round with an Even Par 36 – his personal record and a well earned medal at the local tour Season Championship.

Much later I was on Bear’s bag.  Well not really.  I drove the cart with his clubs on the back and was relegated to wondering, superstitiously, if it was my energy responsible for a less than stellar round – after a week of solid practice and low practice scores.

What I know is that this is what they all strive for :

What I also know is the pressure that they put on themselves chasing par and below is counter-productive and when they start thinking mechanics and score as opposed to trusting swing and instinct it can be an infuriatingly slippery slope.

When the going gets tough the toughest must get tender.  And I know, as counter-intuitive as it sounds, these are the moments where most growth happens for both player and caddy –

Ultimately it is the relationships and bonding of boys who will probably play College golf and beyond together that is really what this is all about right now,

long after the cheers and tears.
