We had –
Some very good luck. The only bad drive of the day went hard and low and skipped wildly over the lip of a particularly bad fairway bunker sending it safely over the adjacent fairway bunker and on to the fairway. A ball ricocheted off a tree and on to the fairway. A badly hit 5 iron had sufficient power to bounce right out of a bunker and land beside the green.
Some bad luck too. A ball that tried very hard to circumvent a green bunker on a par 3 hit a rake and jumped in.
Negligence. Not sure what Rob was thinking but he landed a ball on the edge of the green (but not touching the green). He picked it up and marked it. No!!!!!!!! 1 stroke penalty.
A very ill-timed potty-run.
Our names called for being late on the tee.
Good advice from our coach for dealing with fast greens. (simple answer: try to get the ball to stop at the hole.)
Lots of hybrids and 3-woods into the par 4’s. A 5,371 yard course will do that at Peach’s level.
A good find – a beautiful, striped feather to add to the hat.
A lost phone (left in bathroom during ill-timed potty-run.)
The privilege of playing at a place rooted in golfing history.
3 over on the back 9.
A finish in the top 3/4 of the pack. Unheard of for Peach in a regional tournament! First time he will not be in the first group off on the final morning.
A Breakthrough !
