Regional Tournament : Practice Round, Notes

Bear is playing a practice round with his buddy D.  D has a professional caddy with him.

Probably because D’s dad just doesn’t want to do it anymore.

I totally get it.

Do you think Bear should have a professional caddy?

Rob agrees because that would free Dad up for him.  Bear declines.  Max would have it no other way anyway as one of the player/dad groups they play with tomorrow are a whiny pair that try to “bend the rules” and Max knows he will have to keep a good handle on the dynamics.  Sad to have that reputation already……. Here’s hoping they have mellowed somewhat since they last played with them a couple of years ago !!

Do you think Rob should get a professional caddy?

No, with Rob you’ve got to know his game.  Replied Max.

Here is what you have got to remember with him:  First and foremost he needs to make good contact.  Second aim conservative and hit aggressive. Unlike most amateurs that aim aggressive but hit conservative.

And that ended the instructions as we both headed to practice round with the ‘other’ child.

I hope he takes great notes, full of illustrations of conservative lines.

A double green – you don’t usually see that.

I have a relaxed morning practice round with Bear who is swinging spectacularly.  He takes his own notes.

Later:

Apparently Rob’s practice round was up and down.  This sadly does not translate to lots of up and downs which is clearly why they went straight from practice round to chipping green.
