And I thought, why do I try to avoid this?
This is not bad at all. He’s playing confidently. Scoring low, spirits up.
Until he wasn’t. And they weren’t.
And it really was just a few putts that fell short, a few errant fairway shots that he rushed or played out of turn and out of rhythm.
And I promised myself to never let him forget his Garmin watch at home again.
Because that’s the only reason I was out there with him. I was a yardage reader.
And it’s so much better if he does it on his own.
But he asked, and I wanted to make him happy.
But I also want him to be an independent thinker and take full responsibility for his own actions.
And starting sentences with conjunctions?
These days it’s perfectly acceptable.
Like allowing your child to play his own game without undue pressure from mom on the bag, unnecessary adulation and unwanted advice.
But next time, got to remember the Garmin!
