Season 4, Tournament 6 : Cruising Under the Radar

We wait for 4 hours (Bear teed off much earlier) and still had to adjust the GPS watch half way up the fairway on the 1st hole !  (See last week).

It was a shaky start with lots of blame being thrown around and it’s not fair and I’m playing so badly.

I remind Rob that nobody plays well when they are whiny and we spoke about the 2x 18 hole Regional tournament he played a couple of months ago when he shot a 10 on Hole 1 and still scored an 84 and how we were so happy and light of spirit.  Results flow better when we get out of our head, loosen up our body and keep our hearts light.

That talk seemed to turn it around and we found some pars, shots came easier, and he finished respectably and respectfully.

Typical of Rob, he found his groove half way through the 9 hole round.  I believe 18 holes will be better for him when the local tour makes that jump.

All in all this is about building experience and character.  A good mental attitude is the goal, with good routines and good knowledge of rules and etiquette.

It is very stressful to be a Superstar at this age with the pressure highly successful young players put on themselves and the excessive expectations of their parents.

I love that Rob improves quietly and consistently and is in an age group of young local players that, as a group, are probably some of the strongest in the country.

Cruising under the radar with rob is very pleasant.  The stress of 2 young Superstars would probably kill me.
